CallGuardian helps a caregiver protect landline(s) by assigning a CallGuardian phone number, answering forwarded calls with a recorded-message flow, and routing messages by safe list or caregiver review. Billing is typically charged monthly per protected line once a CallGuardian number is ready (see Pricing for the current rate). You are responsible for setting call forwarding correctly with the landline carrier (forward to the CallGuardian number).
The caregiver is solely responsible for approve and decline decisions on unknown callers. CallGuardian does not auto-block callers and does not decide whether a message should reach the protected person. When you approve (including “approve and add to safe list”), you authorize delivery of that message to the protected person’s email. When you decline, the message is not emailed to them.
Green / yellow / red risk badges are soft triage hints only. CallGuardian does not claim authoritative scam detection, fraud scoring, or law-enforcement-grade classification. Badges may be wrong or incomplete. Do not rely on them as the sole basis for approve / decline; you remain responsible for the decision.
Inbound calls to a CallGuardian line hear a disclosure that the line is recorded before audio is captured (for example: you are on a recorded line, then leave a message). Disclosure is always played as part of the product posture. It is not a substitute for legal review of state or local consent rules where you or the protected person use the service. You are responsible for using CallGuardian in a manner lawful for your jurisdiction.
Call recordings are kept for 30 days, then deleted. Transcripts are kept permanently. Specifically: call audio is retained for 30 days on object storage, then deleted; transcripts and routing metadata are kept permanently so you can review history after the recording is gone. See the Privacy Policy for more detail.
You must provide accurate caregiver and protected-person contact information. Do not use the service for unlawful surveillance, harassment, or to evade lawful process. We may suspend lines or accounts for non-payment, abuse, or safety.
CallGuardian reduces scam pressure by intercepting landline calls and routing messages; it does not guarantee prevention of every scam, loss, or unwanted contact. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is,” and we are not liable for decisions you make (or fail to make) on approve / decline, carrier forwarding failures, or third-party processor outages.
